Alpinez Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs is a small scale, in-home kennel located in beautiful Brookside Park in Los Angeles, California. I have been dedicated to animals and especially dogs, ever since I can remember. I was born and raised in the mountains of Lake Arrowhead, California, where our family bred Cocker Spaniels as well as many other animals. My job was to care for, love and train all of our pets. I became so interested in this job that I began working with friends and neighbors dogs as well. After moving out on my own and graduating from college with a BA in Commercial Illustration, I began to research all the large breed dogs I could and became particularly drawn to the GSMD. I have been involved with the breed since the mid 1990's. My very first Swissy was " BISS Int/.Am Ch. Windrider's A Timber CD, CTD, NWPD, HIT " (aka Timber ) You can see many photos of him on this web site. Since then my dedication with the breed has grown by leaps and bounds. I have fallen completely in love with these dogs and plan to surround myself and my family with Swissies for many years to come.

Our Swissies are very, very special to us. They live in our home as cherished members of the family. We do not keep our dogs outside in cages . We are very active with our Swissy's in both AKC Conformation and AKC Obedience. I personally train and show all my dogs myself. One of our proudest achievements was winning " Best of Breed " at the GSMDCA National Speciality in year 2000. We also enjoy participating in many working dogs activities such as Trail Packing, Therapy Work, Obedience, Drafting, Weight Pulling, and Herding. It is great fun and is very rewarding participating in these different events (especially since these are things that the breed was originally meant to do ! ) I am also a member of the GSMD Club of America, the South West GSMD Club, the Cascade GSMD Club and the Golden Gate GSMD Club.
